Mammoet Ferry Transport Brexit-statement

The United Kingdom may soon be leaving the European Union.

Despite the continuing uncertainty, we still expect that there will be an agreement on the current “withdrawal bill”.

However, given current developments, it is wise to consider the possibility of a “No deal Brexit” as an option and we would therefore advise you to take the following steps in preparation for Brexit.

If the UK leaves without a deal, the trade processes with the EU will be similar to trading with the rest of the world. These trade processes are defined by the World Trade Organization (WTO)

For customers who are only experienced in moving freight within the European Union, you should consider the following essential basic customs clearance criteria.

EORI number: check if your company has a valid EORI number. This is an essential requirement for customs clearance. If you do not have an EORI number, you can request an EORI number here;

GOODS CODES (HS-Codes): Individual commodity codes apply to all international shipments outside the EU. It is the responsibility of the exporter and / or importer to ensure that the correct commodity codes are in place for the goods you are exporting or importing. These are used to check that the correct import tariffs are being applied. You can find more information about the commodity codes here:

COMMERCIAL INVOICES / PACKAGING LISTS: For customs transit, all shipments must be accompanied by a commercial invoice. This must be provided by the exporter and must contain at least the following information:

* Full name and address of the exporter, including VAT number and EORI number
* Full name and address, VAT number and contact details of the importer

* Description and value of goods

* Regarding commodity codes,

* Gross and net weights, packaging details, number of packages.

* Country of origin.

* Terms of sale (incoterms)

This information is required before any cargo can be loaded into the trailer. Without this information and customs documents, shipping is simply not possible and the trailers will be refused for shipment. This is to avoid delays at the terminals
