Brexit – On January 1, 2021, Brexit will become a fact and we will have to deal with customs documents for all freight transported between UK-EU-UK. Our specialist team is very experienced in importing and exporting to and from the United Kingdom (UK). Since Brexit, we have been an important player for a large number of customers who ship a lot of fresh products such as vegetables, fruit, meat and animal products from and/or to England, Scotland and Ireland.

EORI number: for customs clearance in the UK we need a valid EORI number. This is an essential requirement for customs clearance. If you do not have an EORI number, you can request an EORI number here;

Harmonized System-code

Individual commodity codes apply to all international shipments outside the EU. It is the responsibility of the exporter and/or importer to ensure that the correct commodity codes are in place for the goods you are exporting or importing. These are used to check whether the correct import rates are being applied. You can find more information about the commodity codes here:

Commercial Invoices / Packing Lists

For customs transit, all shipments must be accompanied by a commercial invoice. This must be provided by the exporter and must contain at least the following information:

Full name and address of the exporter, including VAT number and EORI number
Full name and address, VAT number and contact details of the importer
Description and value of goods
Regarding commodity codes,
Gross and net weights, packaging details, number of packages.
Country of origin.
Terms of sale (incoterms)

This information is required before any cargo can be loaded into the trailer. Without this information and customs documents, shipping is simply not possible and the trailers will be refused for shipment. This is to avoid delays at the terminals.
